get moving

For the second consecutive morning, I got out of bed, into my tennis shoes and iPod, and hit the streets around my neighborhood. I’ve been meaning to get active for several months, but didn’t get the motivation until this weekend. I’m not sure what got me going, but I’m going. My goal is to walk/jog for 40 minutes, three or four times a week. I spent Saturday and Sunday morning walking, and I imagine I’ll do the same on Tuesday or Wednesday morning. For added motivation, I created a Get Moving! playlist on my iPod. My legs are sore this afternoon, but the slight discomfort is worth knowing I’m doing something good for myself.

$$$

Rebate checks are the best. It’s “free” money you forgot about. When Matthew and I painted my bedroom last month, I qualified for a $20 rebate through Lowe’s and American Tradition paint. Today, that sweet, sweet check arrived. Rather than blowing it on crap I don’t need, it’s going into my savings account for next year’s property taxes.

what’s better?

Blogger or LiveJournal?

see that?

I can’t tell for sure, but it appears a full moon has taken to the sky this night. Trees obstruct the view outside my orange office at home. I’ll take a closer look when I leave to see “The Bourne Supremacy” in a few hours. I never saw the first “Bourne” movie and am hoping I won’t be completely confused.

P.S. My lack of updates certainly haven’t been conscious or planned. I simply haven’t had much to say.

more to read, more to love?

I’m considering a subscription to Reader’s Digest. It’s known as an old person’s publication, I know. But I was flipping through a few back issues at my dentist’s office last week and came across a handful of well written profiles. Being a writer, I’m a sucker for a good profile. Reading makes me a better writer, too.

Hmm…

let’s do this

I’ve made up my mind: I’m getting my hair cut today. This mop atop my head needs a good trim. It’s time.

find the scissors

I have an appointment to get my hair cut tomorrow afternoon. I always go through this the night before: Is my hair really ready for a cut? Can I wait another week? I’m at that point right now.

blah

Blah. Monday is over. Another issue will soon be on the street. My brain is so mushy. My eyes hurt. I’m still in my work clothes, yet don’t have the energy to change. I want to change into my PJs, but I can’t muster the energy to do that just yet. Blah. I’m sleepy and hungry, but it’s getting kind of late. I don’t want to be finding something to eat when my eyelids feel heavy.

“Yawn.”

Remember the “Seinfeld” episode where Jerry comes home to his apartment to find Kramer and Newman making sausage in his kitchen? The scene was similar on N Street yesterday when I got home from work. It wasn’t a surprise, but it still made me laugh. Matthew and Brian spent the afternoon making 22 jars of pickles and relish from produce they purchased at the farmer’s market in the Old Market. I’m told the first jars will be cracked open in six to 10 weeks. The boys did a bang-up job cleaning my kitchen. This morning, all that remains is the faint smell of pickles.
