Things — both good and bad — often happen when you least expect them. Embrace them and the moment. Don’t think too much, or you’ll ruin it.

“Hooray for Boobies!” exclaims one of the best T-shirts I’ve ever seen on the Web. I love the sentiment, but can someone explain why I turn completely red upon entering my local Victoria’s Secret store? It’s no big secret that I needed a new bra, so I visited VS earlier this evening. The two previous bras have come from VS. They fit great and last forever.
Before I could even walk in the store, I had to stop at the Hallmark at the other end of the mall, just to prep myself. I’m weird, I know. I was just so nervous at the thought of walking in there to discuss, well, the size of my breasts. (The men roaming about – some solo, others with women – didn’t help the atmosphere, either.)
My face turned beat red, and I could tell I was nervous. I was chatting really fast with the sales girl (who, by the way, was very nice and helpful) and wanted to exit as quickly as possible. When the sales girl saw me, she said, “It looks like you know exactly what you need.” Which, of course, I did. I managed to buy two bras this evening; and thanks to the quality of VS, I won’t have to undergo such trauma for at least another year. Maybe two, if I’m lucky.
Sheesh.
bend and stretch
Today is going to be one of those days where I hibernate at home, accomplishing a number of projects I’ve been meaning to get to for months. Atop that list is organizing the closet in my office here at home. It has quickly and quietly become a disaster, full of odds and ends I need to organize and purge.
I’ve fallen in love with my house since moving in more than a year ago. Every corner, every wall is special to me. Spending time here is like spending time in a sacred place. It’s quiet when I want it to be, filled with music when I’m ready for noise.
My house makes me smile :-)
I’m also hoping to finish “Brain Storm” by Richard Dooling today. Then, I must decide which book I’ll tackle next. Here are a few options:
(1) “Cane River” by Lalita Tademy.
(2) “A Tree Grows In Brooklyn” by Betty Smith.
(3) “The Grapes of Wrath” by John Steinbeck.
(4) “My Antonia” by Willa Cather.
I purchased Jonathan Franzen’s essays “How To Be Alone” from eBay, but I’m not sure if the book will arrive in time. We shall see, friends.
new ipod alert
It appears Apple will release new iPods in the coming days: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5457434/site/newsweek/
Judging from the photos, however, the differences aren’t vast enough to make me want a new one. Now, if Apple released full-size iPods in colors…well, that’s another story.
too cute!
Isn’t this purse pretty? I found it online at Gap.com.

a screamin’ deal
So I’ve been eyeing Jonathan Franzen’s “The Twenty-Seventh City” for months and decided to see if I could find a used copy on eBay.
I didn’t, but I found something just as good: a handful of Franzen’s personal essays.
“How to be Alone” retails for $14. Amazon has it for around $12. I bought a new copy…for $5 on eBay! What a find, indeed. Can’t wait for its arrival.
In the meantime, I’m half-way through “Deception Point” by Dan Brown. I also need to finish “Brain Storm” by Richard Dooling.
because everyone is doing it

Not much to say tonight, except that I feel more and more certain every day that it’s time to find a new job. What’s depressing is that I feel as though I’m running in circles. There’s no newspaper or magazine jobs to speak of, so I’m setting my eyes on public relations or, maybe, corporate communication.
Problem is, how do I convince a potential employer that I can do public relations when I have zero PR experience? Oy, vey.
