say goodbye, Courier New 12
It’s a sad state of affairs, I must say…

i’m a band whore
I caught two acts last night: Simon Joyner and The Good Life at a pub here in Omaha. The place was packed wall-to-wall with Hispters. It was fun. I could’ve done without Joyner’s performance, but Tim Kasher of The Good Life was pretty amazing. It was an acoustic set, so the performance was more intimate than if he’d been playing a larger venue. I definitely want to check out their CDs.
ah, what creative minds
While driving to work Monday morning, I caught of glimpse of someone’s handiwork on the back of their pickup truck, and thankfully had my camera handy.
Behold, the combination of “brains” and snow :-)
high-speed is here!
The guy from Cox Communications left my house a few hours ago. I set up my cable modem and Airport Base Station. Viola! My high-speed network is complete :-)
a winter wonderland my ass
The weather “experts” are calling for an additional 13″ of snow by Monday evening. I’d love to know where the hell all this snow is going to go. Very little of the 13″ that fell last Monday has melted. It’s piled in massive drifts all around the city. I imagine Omaha could come to a screeching halt if this storm is as bad as predicted. I need to make a run to the grocery store before it hits. Perhaps I’ll do that tomorrow morning: bread, cereal, juice, milk, frozen pasta and Cream of Wheat. Mmm…
angry with cox communications
You’ll recall my excitement at taking the proper steps to set-up a wireless, high speed network in my home. It has been a week, and Cox Communications has yet to visit my home and make the proper “adjustments” on my cable TV so I can receive their high-speed Internet access. The customer service people have been friendly, but not very helpful, telling me their workers are backed up from last week’s snow storm. I understand that, but let’s get a move on. The longer they way, the less of my money they’ll receive this month.
The new target date is Monday. We’ll see what happens. Until then, I’m still tethered to my $21.95/month EarthLink account. Oy, vey.
snip, snip
I got my hair cut yesterday. It is short! Well, shorter than what I’m used to, but it’s all good.
(What the hell? Did I just use the phrase “it’s all good?”)
Must…stop…speaking…like…MTV…veejay.
“i’m doing the best i can”
Tomorrow I’m catching an acoustic session by Rilo Kiley at Sokol Underground here in Omaha. The show should be fantastic! It’s my first Rilo show and I’m awfully excited.
bring on the high-speed
Thanks to consistent nudging from Matthew, I’ve signed up for Cox’s high-speed Internet access. I pick up my cable modem today, which I got free because I opted for a used model. I can’t wait! I’ve been a satisfied EarthLink customer for nearly a year now, but I’m ready to take my Internet experience to, as they say, “the next level.” My goal is to establish a wireless (and secure) network throughout my house. Before I can do that, I need to track down an Airport Base Station, by Apple. Word on the street is that I can pick one up at Nebraska Furniture Mart. Very soon, I’ll have the capacity to upload and download large files. I’ll be able to browse the Web quicker and, ideally, become a more efficient Internet user. That, or I’ll spend my time viewing Web sites I’ve neglected in the past because they loaded too slowly on a dial-up connection.
Bring on the bandwidth, baby!
