On Sunday, I updated my music library.
Do we like the same stuff?
I hope so.
My profile on Armando Salgado is featured on the homepage of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Web site. Hooray!
This idea arrived in the form of a post by Shannon, my Bend friend and former DiscO co-worker. Please answer the following:
(1) Who are you?
(2) How did you find this blog?
(3) Why do you return?
Below are two photos taken by Super Photographer Chris Machian earlier this summer. It’s amazing what a set of professional lights — not to mention a damn good Nikon camera and the skill of picture making — can do.
Translation: My Franklin Covey planner is missing in action. It’s not in my car; I checked this morning. It’s nowhere in the house; checked all over. It could be in my office at work. I need to stop by today and see if it’s there. I hope so. My entire schedule lies in the pages of that planner.
We rented “National Treasure” last night, but only made it through about 90 minutes of the film. Good stuff, so far, even for a Disney movie. Think “The Da Vinci Code” without the religions undertones. We also rented “Kinsey,” which will be viewed sometime during the next few days.
I discovered that the chicken friend rice at Three Happiness Express is among the best Chinese dishes I’ve had the pleasure of consuming. I give it two thumbs up. Way up.
I offer that same stamp of approval to the banana cream pie shake from Sonic. Last night was my first Sonic experience — and it was a good one.
[EDIT: I just came from work. What did I find sitting on my desk? My planner, of course. Whew. Crisis adverted.]
At last.
But I can’t really say that, as, looking back, the work week has flown by.
Enough generic sentences. Time for specifics.
Tonight: Not sure what’s planned.
Tomorrow: Work on article for Wedding Dresses magazine. Run a few errands. Read more of “The Grapes of Wrath.” Get caught up on my issues of The New Yorker? Wedding reception at Creighton Prep High School.
Sunday: More reading. Clip coupons from the Sunday World-Herald. Maybe a trip to the Summer Arts Festival in downtown Omaha.
I was pulled into two episodes of “The O.C.” last night on Fox. Bad, Wendy. Bad, bad, bad.
Musically, I’ve been enjoying “X&Y” by Coldplay, as well as “Cold Roses” by Ryan Adams.
My new favorite album: “Erlend Øye” by DJ Kicks. DELICIOUS!
I rented the movie “Spanglish” last night. I recall seeing previews for the film and was rather intrigued. However, I found the movie to be slow moving and a bit dramatic for my taste.
I’m thankful I only paid $4 and change to rent the DVD, rather than $6 or $7 to watch it in the theater.
Kweller is mowing. It appears he now owns an iPod, as I can see the signature white earbuds dangling from his ears as he shaves his lawn to a shorter length.
It is nearing 1 p.m.
Ah, to be a kid on summer vacation.
I am jealous.
Busy, relaxing and eventful weekend.
To recap:
Friday night: College World Series game. Ate a huge hot dog and cheese fries. Delicious and nutritious.
Saturday: Wrote an article for One Magazine. Shopped for the essentials at Target. Yet another fabulous dinner at The Flatiron, featuring a New York strip with a lobster bernaise sauce, warm potatoes and asparagus. For dessert: chocolate mousse.
Sunday: Wrote an article for Today’s Omaha Woman magazine. Did a load of laundry. Read the latest issue of Oprah’s magazine, as well as more of “The Grapes of Wrath.” Celebrated Father’s Day with my dad and Matthew’s dad. Ate steak, Suddenly Salad, cheese rice and lettuce salad, as well as strawberry shortcake.
Fin.
I’m certain the literary world is seething at this. I’m foregoing the David Sedaris reading tonight to attend the second game of the 2005 College World Series.
But the tickets are free! And from what I’m told, they’re darn good seats.
I’m also hoping to catch the Wednesday night game.
I’m not so much of a baseball fan as I am a fan of the food associated with such national championship events.
Go hot dogs! Go funnel cake! Go peanuts!
