yet another wendy quiz

Go nuts!

Here we go.

new projects!

Within the past week, I’ve picked up two fairly sizable freelance projects, both of which will yield me some extra cash. I’ll also get to do more writing, which I love.

My hunt for a new job, however, continues. I’ve sent cover letters and clip files, I’ve interviewed for a handful of positions. Nothing yet. You’ll know when I do, should something surface.

show me the chicken

Matthew is making an elaborate chicken dish for dinner tonight. It has involved the careful removal of tomato skins and the process of “clarifying” butter. It smells so good! He’s hard at work, and I’m on my ass, drooling over my PowerBook. Mmm.

Note to self: Do not drink four Ketel Cranberries in a two-hour period. You’ll pay dearly.

go for it

new from mwsf 2005

Steve’s keynote this morning revealed a number of new Apple goodies, including new iPods, a new Macintosh, iLife ’05 and iWork ’05. The new iPods are extremely cute, but I’ll keep the one I have, thank you very much.

tomorrow it begins

Apple CEO Steve Jobs will take center stage at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco tomorrow morning at Macworld San Francisco 2005, and I won’t be there. I’ve attended many at Macworld in my day, and I must say that I long for the adrenaline rush as Steve uses his signature “One More Thing” technique when revealing new hardware (and software) by the geniuses at Apple.

Perhaps my favorite Macworld was when those of us lucky enough to attend the keynote received Apple’s new, one button, optical mouse. It was a frenzy as we literally ran to the tables near the door to collect our mice (mouse?). Thrilling, I tell you. Fucking thrilling.

One time on the expo floor, I was no more than 15 feet away from Mr. Jobs himself. Now that was awe-inspiring.

And word has it that Apple won’t stream Steve’s keynote tomorrow morning. I’m a bit bummed about that, but I’ll certainly be following the developments tomorrow.

The cutest thing ever: Matthew referring to Macworld as Macfest. (He wasn’t joking; he thought it is called Macfest.

bright eyes friday

Bright Eyes Friday at Sokol, with Coco Rosie and Tilly and the Wall.

Who’s joining me?

holy friholy!

It’s 6 p.m. on a Monday, AND I’M HOME! How fantastic. How absolutely, positively fantastic. I’m not quite sure why we finished the paper so damn early, but one doesn’t look the proverbial gift horse in the mouth. This Monday, by the way, even included an 8:30 a.m. interview for me, followed by the writing of an 800-word story on an 11-year-old boy who’ll probably die of cancer by May. Sad story. Very, very sad. The mother and I shared more than few tears during out 90-minute interview this morning. I’m not quite sure the story needed to be written, to be honest. I’m afraid it’ll just depress people.

But, then again, depressing stories make front page every day. Should the Bellevue Leader be any different?

(I’ll post the link when it’s posted to our Web site later this week.)

And then there’s this, which I’m not quite sure how I feel about just yet: http://spotlight.omahavoice.com/spot002.htm

what the fuck?

I’m sitting here at work, and there’s these three lunatics sitting in the next office, talking about getting a home. It’s an “engaged” couple, both in their late 40s, and a cousin.

He just said, “I have close to $800 in my wallet right now.”

He just bought his second, brand new truck, but said he couldn’t get a loan for a pack of smokes.

The asshole owed $10,000 in back child support. Fuck him. You know, asshole, Trojans are a helluva lot cheaper.
