My Fashion Mantra

Anyone who knows me knows I have a special, not-so-secret love affair with fashion.

I don’t spend tons of money on my clothes, but I do my best to buy pieces that are unique, unique, unique.

I attended an outdoor party last weekend and wore my orange summer dress from Francesca’s Collections.

A few people commented on my dress, but said it seemed a bit too “dressy” for an outdoor party.

I didn’t care then and I don’t care now.

My Fashion Mantra: I’d rather be overdressed than underdressed any day.

Yes, One Of Those Email Forwards

Predictable and unoriginal, I know, but anything related to the English language captivates me like no other.

Quite The Compliment?

Moments after Molly took this photo of me and Jimmy last night in Dundee…

…I was given quite the compliment by an older gentleman gutting a building at the corner of 50th Street and Underwood Avenue.

“You are one sexy young lady.”

Aside from the fact that the compliment creeped me out, it simply doesn’t make sense.

If you’re sexy, you can be described with similar adjectives such as foxy, hot, seductive, slinky, etc.

But if you’re a young lady, you’re sweet, innocent, lovely, cute, pretty, etc.

Dare I ask: how can someone be sexy and a young lady at the same time?

Words Of Wisdom For A Tuesday

Are you feeling less than motivated at home? At work? In your relationships?

Look no further than the inspirational writers at Despair, Inc.. They’ve created an impressive array of motivational posters intended to turn your frown upside down in no time.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Steve Jobs: Uncensored

It appears that Apple CEO Steve Jobs has been documenting his thoughts and observations in a “secret” blog: The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs, Aged 51 1/2.

The New MacBook. Of Course!

A funny, funny Apple-inspired TV ad from YouTube.

A New Love

Thanks to my dear friend Holly I have discovered the loveliness of Francesca’s Collections.

In the past two days, I purchased a chic silver wallet (inspired by the one Molly purchased at Urban Outfitters) and an oh-so-adorable tangerine cotton dress from the Omaha store.

Cartoon Wendy

I want to tweak the Cartoon Wendy you see each time you visit my blog. However, I don’t recall the Web site where I created this little gem.

Anyone out there in LiveJournal Land know the URL?

Go Team Cox In Demand

I’m a bad friend.

Mark, my Cox Communications cohort, invited me to attend his softball game last night. A number of Cox employees play on the team and I thought the outing would be a fun one.

Then 5 p.m. rolled around, and the only thing on my mind was getting a pedicure.

As my feet and toes were getting pampered by a young man named Ny, my work cell phone rang and recorded a voicemail from Mark, reminding me of his pending softball game.

I was comatose with relaxation when he called and didn’t listen to his voicemail until nearly two hours later.

Good news, though. Team Cox In Demand picked up its first win last night, 4-1.

Way to go, guys!

My Falling Star {Literally}

A nasty thunderstorm blew through this morning around 4:30.

A particularly loud clap of thunder shook my walls so violently that the Rising Star Alumni Achievement Award hanging on my office wall came crashing to the ground, with broken glass everywhere.

I received the award in April from my alma mater, the School of Communication at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

I’m doing my best to remain optimistic and not believe this occurrence is a sign of things to come; that my once-rising star has now fallen to the ground.
