Hello, C-SPAN

Cox Communications hosted a visit by the C-SPAN School Bus Thursday afternoon in downtown Omaha.

Here’s a group photo taken Thursday during a break in bus visitors. From left: Stephanie Green, C-SPAN; Libbie Holmes, Cox; Kelly Sare, Cox; yours truly (with a White Chocolate Mocha from the Starbucks across the street).

‘Friendship Bread’

{More importantly, see Tanner’s first short film, “Friendship Bread.”}

A Homeowner Question

Question: Should I be concerned with the small puddle of water that has developed under and around the hot water heater in my basement?

Free Baseball = Pure Love

On Friday, Cox Communications hosted a VIP tent for area government officials near Rosenblatt Stadium for the 2006 College World Series.

In addition to serving lunch to our guests, we gave them two tickets to the 1 p.m. game on Friday.

We had unused tickets after our event, purchased for those who didn’t attend. Following a brilliant idea from my coworker, Mark, I headed north on 13th Street and started giving away tickets to random strangers.

I sought out small groups of young boys (those between 12 and 16 years old). When I offered the tickets, for free, the grins and excitement on their faces was thanks enough. It was a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful feeling to give these kids the ultimate College World Series experience for free. That act alone made my week.

My New Favorite Thing

My sterling silver Wendy necklace arrived on Thursday from the folks at Idan Jewelry in Jerusalem, Israel. Extra cash in my PayPal account made this isn’t-she-lovely accessory a reality for around $28.

Pee And Dance At The Same Time

Impossible you say? Not so with this nifty invention.

But something tells me if people start bringing their iPods into bathrooms, Apple should rethink its all-white design.

Traveling The Unknown Path

“We all follow an unknown path and an uncharted stream, and it takes great courage to move ahead with our eyes and our hearts open. When we look with deep compassion, we may find it necessary to change our life again and again, to let go of unwise parts of ourselves or to extend our compassion in new ways to the world around us.”

— The wisdom of Jack Kornfield

Wit And Honesty, Combined

The latest post in Jimmy’s blog, Operation Peter Pan, on the absolutely unnecessary Matt Lauer interview of Britney Spears had me in tears I laughed so hard.

{I will say that I did not — nor plan to — watch this muddied piece of TV “journalism.”}
