Comic-Book Superrman Impervious To Copyediting

May 3, 2006 | Issue 42•18

NEWARK—Executives at DCC Comics have announced the debut of comic-book character Superrman, whose invulnerability to copyediting protects him from nefarious outside forces and intellectual-property lawsuits.

“Thrill to the exploits of Superrman, the only child of a doomed plant! Gasp in awe at his Superr-Strength, X-Roy Vision, and his ability to leap mall buildings in a single bounce!” read a press release issued by DCC. “Superrman’s only weakness? His vulnerability to Cryptonight… and his star-crossed love for sassy, sexy, trouble-prone reporter Louis Lane!”

The editors of Superrman say the comic book will be released alongside those of other popular DCC characters such as Wander Woman, the Flush, and Batdan.

{Thanks to Chris Machian for sending this little gem my way.}

Graduation Day

This photo was taken four years and six days ago, mere hours before I walked across a stage and gained the title of college graduate from the University of Nebraska at Omaha on May 10, 2002.

{I loved that little black dress, by the way. It was knee-length and purchased from Express or The Limited.}

On Being Catholic

I dig Catholicism.

But I didn’t always.

There were a few years in college where I didn’t make time for Mass, confession and the like. But when life quickly changes on you, leaving some fear in its wake, you cling to what you know.

And for me, that’s Catholicism.

I’ve rediscovered my love of Catholic traditions, such as Perpetual Adoration. My weekly hour is something I continually look forward to.

Part of me wishes I was alive before Vatican II. When thousand-year-old traditions were celebrated and explained a bit more. When religion was so gorgeously old fashioned and historic.

And I’d love to attend a Mass entirely in Latin.

Thanks God For The Internet

Thank you, MySpace.com, for helping me pass the wee morning hours when I couldn’t sleep…like now. Finding old friends and reading about new ones certainly has a way of consuming one’s time.

I’ve been wide awake since shortly past 4 this morning and am fearful I won’t get any more shuteye before my cell phone alarm sounds at 6.

Here’s to a potentially groggy Thursday.

Oy.

Ralph Said It Best

“I had an almost intolerable awareness that every morning began with infinite promise. Any book may be read, any idea thought, any action taken. Anything that has ever been possible to human beings is possible to most of us every time the clock says six in the morning. In a day no different from the one now breaking, Shakespeare sat down to begin Hamlet.”

— Ralph Waldo Emerson

So Delicious

Few foods make me as sublimely happy as fried chicken from my neighborhood Bag ‘N Save grocery store. I devoured a leg and a thigh last night — with a huge side of their signature Garden Vegetable Pasta — while sitting on my couch, watching TV.

The entire meal was pure bliss for just $4.

Flash Back

Remember Professor Lasky from “Saved by the Bell: The College Years?”

I just saw him on a Hyundai commercial.

And he looked very, very old.

Daisies And More Daisies

I’ve gotta thank my mom for giving me these gorgeous daisies Thursday night at the UNO School of Communication award banquet. Thanks, Mom!

Love That Dress!

This poor woman doesn’t have a head or much for legs, but isn’t her Luella Bartley dress darling? If it wasn’t sold out at Target.com, I’d take it.

Why Macs Make Sense

“i’m just happy that i’m spending more time playing and creating content instead of spending all my time just trying to make the apps work”

— Someone who works in IT and recently made the switch to a Macintosh.
