Today I spent part of my afternoon drinking in the glamour of the 1954 film Sabrina.
I’d only seen the film on DVD; today, however, I watched the film on the silver screen, thanks to Film Streams in downtown Omaha.
Sabrina is one of my Top Five Films of All Time. Not only do I adore Hepburn as an actress, but the clothing and scenery throughout the film are fantastic.

It’s happening.
All across the country Our Favorite Retailers are forgoing their common sense and thrusting upon us Christmas mere days before Halloween.
It’s true.
On Saturday while paying for my groceries at my neighborhood Wal-Mart SuperCenter (I’ll only shop there ’til the SuperTarget opens next door in March), I saw a lit Christmas tree across the store.

On Friday I spent the day in the Nebraska towns of West Point, Norfolk and Columbus. The trip was work related but the scenery from the road was, at times, breathtaking. It felt good to escape the city for a day and experience the calm and honest sensibility of Small Town America.
Somewhere between West Point and Norfolk.

The candy.
The homemade popcorn balls.
Homes adorned with spooky decorations.
Anything pumpkin flavored.
(But not haunted houses. Call me chicken, but they scare the holy living crap out of me.)
Nine days and counting until Halloween is here!
But most importantly: what’s your costume this year? I need something simple and low maintenance to wear when handing out candy next Wednesday night. I can only wear the same pair of cat ears until the neighbor kids catch on.
