A few updates…

(1) The Modest Mouse show Tuesday night was anything but modest. Sold out. Loud music. Lots of dancing. Not quite one of my Top 10 Shows of 2005, but an enjoyable evening nonetheless.

(2) Found out yesterday my ’94 Acura is on its last legs and requires close to $1,300 in repairs. Hello, new Honda.

(3) T-minus 17 days until I begin my new job! I need to think about shopping for a few new items to add to my work wardrobe.

(4) I haven’t been to the Y since Monday. I’m going this morning, though. Yes, yes I am.

(5) Still thinking about an iPod shuffle. Especially when I read about this yesterday.

(6) Blue Bunny’s vanilla pear yogurt is my new favorite food. That, and honey roasted peanuts. Yum.

this makes me shiver

Egad.

web designers from hell

This is quite possibly the gravest abuse of Web design I have seen as of late.

one of the last tuesdays

Tuesdays have become like a regular person’s Saturday or Sunday. A day to accomplish the smaller projects that can’t be done during the work week. Now that I’ll have an actual weekend, I’ll be able to finish those tasks at that time.

So far this morning, I have organized my closet; bagged up a few items to take to the Goodwill; and listed a few things on eBay. A busy bee am I.

Today, it’s work, as well as stops at the bank, post office and Goodwill. And perhaps a stop at the grocery store for milk and yogurt.

Tonight: Modest Mouse!

On behalf of Matthew, I’m selling this and this.

the big news (finally)

Some of you may have believed the big news was that I got engaged.

Wrong.

[EDIT: To clarify, I am NOT engaged.]

I have a new job! I have accepted an account executive position with Leslie Kline Lukas and Associates (formerly Leslie Associates). Don’t let my new title fool you; I’ll be doing PR for the company’s clients. LKL&A is a full-service public relations counseling firm in Omaha. Here’s their Web site: http://www.leslieklinelukas.com

My start date is mid-March. I’m nervous and excited, both at the same time.

More good news: I’ll be able to continue free-lancing, locally and nationally.

so smooth it’s scary

While running on the treadmill at the Y this morning, my iPod’s earbuds came unplugged three or four times. I set my iPod on a little shelf to the right of the digital display. As I’m running, my arms get tangled in the cords and – bam! – the earbuds become unplugged. It’s pretty embarrassing when it happens. Although I keep running, I struggle to plug my earbuds back into my iPod.

Anyone out there use the iPod shuffle when running? Your thoughts?

yes

A no.

Another no.

Then nothing.

No.

No.

No.

A maybe.

And, finally, a yes.

Modest Mouse is in town Tuesday. Can’t wait! I’m glad I got my ticket before the show sold out. It should be a good one.

Matthew bought me “Nashville,” the new album by Josh Rouse. I haven’t yet given it a listen, but I’m sure it’s delicious, as is his other work. Hang oh, Josh. I’ll be with you shortly.

I made a playlist called “At The Y” for when I’m working out. Any suggestions on what song absolutely has to be on there?

(sigh)

I have just been reminded of how fantastic a singer the late Jeff Buckley was/is/forever will be.
