nate berkus

Am I the last person to learn about Nate Berkus’ connection to the tsunami?

eh

I haven’t been able to fall back to sleep after Matthew left for work this morning around 4:30. Will I pay for this later today? Maybe, maybe not. I fell asleep on the couch last night around 8:30 or 9 while reading “Underworld” by Don DeLillo. Around 10:30, I went to bed. Do those 90 minutes of sleep count toward last night’s sleep? Or was that simply a late-night nap?

i’m wide awake, it’s morning

That’s right. I’m growing more excited with Bright Eyes’ new albums that I’m quoting Conor’s lyrics in my subject line, when appropriate. (I’m so awesome.)

The weather here is finally warming up. Which means the snow is finally melting. Which means my car will look filthy again in a matter of hours, despite the fact I had it washed yesterday afternoon. Oy.

Remember the story I mentioned last week, about the little Bellevue boy dying of cancer? It’s online: http://www.bellevueleader.com/index.php?u_pg=910&u_sid=1308442

I had another Page 1 story this week, writing about our Person of the Year for 2004, Jolene Roberts. At nearly 1,700 words, it’s a big one. Took me a lot of brain power to write, but I’m rather pleased with the result.

Although I’m stating the obvious, the “Garden State” soundtrack is absolutely fabulous. I’ve been listening to it the last few days. Tasty stuff.

makin’ me think

Bright Eyes’ “I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning,” has gotten me thinking. After reading what national press has written about the album, and from what I heard of Conor’s new stuff at the show, I’m intriguied. “Digital Ash in a Digital Urn” sounds good, too, especially since the Faint is involved with the tour later this year.

I don’t often buy CDs (I mooch from friends); I may have to pick these two us.

we’re back; hip hip hooray

LiveJournal is back from the brink. Welcome back, LJ. It was funny how I drafted LJ entries in my head while at work yesterday, but couldn’t post them. True, I could’ve dumped my brain’s garbage into a Microsoft Word document, but how much fun would that be? There’s no “immediate gratification” with posting blog posts to a Word file.

Saw Bright Eyes play Sokol Friday night. An OK show, but certainly not one of Conor’s best performances. He was rather quiet; a little boring. I received two magazines in the mail over the weekend, Interview and Rolling Stone. Both has glowing things to say about our boy Conor. RS referred to Conor as “Rock’s Boy Genius.”

Not bad for a kid who graduated from a Catholic high school.

yet another wendy quiz

Go nuts!

Here we go.

new projects!

Within the past week, I’ve picked up two fairly sizable freelance projects, both of which will yield me some extra cash. I’ll also get to do more writing, which I love.

My hunt for a new job, however, continues. I’ve sent cover letters and clip files, I’ve interviewed for a handful of positions. Nothing yet. You’ll know when I do, should something surface.

show me the chicken

Matthew is making an elaborate chicken dish for dinner tonight. It has involved the careful removal of tomato skins and the process of “clarifying” butter. It smells so good! He’s hard at work, and I’m on my ass, drooling over my PowerBook. Mmm.

Note to self: Do not drink four Ketel Cranberries in a two-hour period. You’ll pay dearly.

go for it
