We stuffed ourselves shortly before 5 yesterday afternoon. What a wonderful bird! Here are a few photos.

eat turkey today
To one and all, Happy Thanksgiving!
So far today I’ve already consumed two glasses of OJ, a glass of milk, a bowl of Corn Flakes and a cinnamon roll. And it’s only 9 a.m.! I can’t wait for the feast that awaits later today.
Hooray for calories!
new book alert!
Matthew and I arrived this morning in Denver. We had lunch at the Cherry Cricket in Cherry Creek, followed by a shopping trip to the Tattered Cover, one of my favorite bookstores of all time. (That list includes Myopic Books of Chicago and City Lights of San Francisco).
While at Tattered Cover, I purchased this book. I’ve never read anything by Tom Wolfe, but I’ve heard good things about his work.
Input, anyone?
she’s coming with me
It is decided. My PowerBook is coming to Denver. I can’t be without her, not to mention my email, digital photos, etc., until Sunday. Egad!
more about ryan adams
From a brief note in Sunday’s edition of the Omaha World-Herald:
Though many of the 800-plus fans at Tuesday’s Ryan Adams concert thoroughly enjoyed the show, some concertgoers left halfway into his set at Sokol Auditorium. They were disappointed by what they considered a sloppy and erratic performance that featured more talk than music.
Between songs and swigs of Scotch, Adams went on excessive rants about everything from Travis Tritt and Gap shoppers to his being lambasted in recent years by the media.
One man who attended the show called Adams’ performance “a drunken mess.”
That Adams likes to throw back a few is no secret, as is the fact that this show was intended to be an informal warm-up for the singer-guitarist, who is returning to the road after breaking a wrist last January.
But when an artist charges $25 for a ticket, fans should get a performance worthy of that price.
OK, Ryan Adams was certainly a wee bit tipsy when he performed last week. But I liked his show for one reason and it is this: It felt like we were sitting around someone’s basement, drinking a few and listening to Ryan jam on his guitar and piano. I’m told this show was drastically different from the show he played in Lincoln a few years ago. But who cares, I say. I can understand some people not wanting to throw down 25 bucks for a One Percent show when most of their shows are between $8 and $15. But come on. I’m certain that a flawless night of music would’ve been boring after a while.
I pay for live shows to get a feel for the artist not only as a musician, but also as a person. I’ve often complained that some artists ignore the audience and play as if they’re in a booth recording an album solo. No thanks. The banter, the commentary, the sidebars, I love. Bring ’em on.
Monday night: the Aracade Fire at Sokol Underground. I can’t wait.
turkey day is thursday
I’m leaving for Denver on Wednesday to celebrate Thanksgiving with my dad. My Nikon is definitely coming along for the trip, but I haven’t decided about my Macintosh. I don’t return until Sunday, you see. Do I want to be away from my e-mail until then? And what if I want to post photos I take while in Denver?
Decisions, decisions.
I really am a big dork.
one year later
Matthew and I celebrated our one-year anniversary last night to the exact day we first met, which happened to be at a Jayhawks concert at Sokol. I can’t believe how quickly this past year has gone! It’s been one of the happiest 365 days, that’s for sure :-)
Here are a few photos from last night’s celebration…
The two of us, as the evening began.
Another cute photo!

no! no! no!
I really, really, really, really DO NOT want to go to work today. I want to spend a Sunday at home, like the majority of people I know.
help, please
See my new LJ icon way up there? I like the photo, but I’d love to have a very slim border (black or white) around the image. How do I do that?
warm socks
I’ve not yet decided whether I want these because they’re a fabulous idea or because they’re socks with the Apple logo.
