rock on, kasher

Last night’s Cursive show at Sokol was pretty great. I enjoyed Criteria but could’ve easily done without Ladyfinger.

I also could’ve done without having a glass of water dumped on me.

Yeah, you read that right. Water. Dumped. On me.

Matthew and I were on the main floor, near the mirrors but below the balcony. Two young kids (I assume young, because they used water, not beer) dumped a bottle of water on my head. My hair and shirt got pretty soaked. And this all happened before the show started! I was pretty upset, but the two bottles of Miller High Life softened the blow.

UPDATE: As feared, my shirt is now stained. At the show, it looked like whatever those brats dumped on me contained some type of bleaching agent. When I pulled that shirt (which has become one of my favorites) from the dryer yesterday, the evidence was clear as day. Now, I’m pretty pissed.

P.S. Long live the cowbell.

Thanks, Matthew!

Ah, the antics of one W. brilliantly imitating another W. Hilarious, I say. Absolutely spot-on.

the streets

I gave The Streets a good listen today on my iPod while driving ’round Omaha. Good stuff. I like the way this guy says different words in his British accent.

inhale, exhale

Right now, today, it’s early August. Logic says the weather should be in the high 70s to low 80s. Sunny skies. But the weather is anything but. It’s raining. It’s cold, something like 55 or 60 degrees. It’s cloudy and a little windy. Essentially, it’s wonderful. It literally feels like fall outside my door, and I love that. I’m ready for sweaters, jeans and my corduroy blazer. Fall, put on some speed. I’m ready for you.

I saw two movies in the last two days with Matthew: “Collateral” and “The Manchurian Candidate.” The latter of the two was rather terrifying and odd. A good story, yet odd. “Collateral” was a great story, awesome camera work, good dialogue, deep characters. It wasn’t nearly as violent as I predicted, which is a good thing.

I pretty much completed decorating my bedroom today. I picked up a few accessories, ALL of which were on sale! Thank you, Target and Gordman’s. You certainly made my Tuesday afternoon.

picnics are fun

Matthew and I dined on friend chicken, pasta salad, spinach salad, chips and salsa during a lovely picnic yesterday at Memorial Park. The weather couldn’t have been more ideal for an outdoor feast. Lounging in the shade with the breeze blowing was a perfect way to spend a Saturday evening. It was off to the Homey Inn, though, after dinner. I swear, their champagne is the best I’ve ever tried.

Here’s a photo of last night’s fun :-)
