“whew”
I’m spent. Sure, it was the Fourth of July holiday weekend, which should’ve meant three days of rest and relaxation. Not quite. Not that I’m complaining :-) After lunch with Matthew’s family yesterday, he and I spent the evening with Brian, our buddy who lives/works at an Omaha mortuary. After a delicious dinner of grilled salmon and various salads, the boys proceeded to pass out on the couch while I watched my first three episodes of “Six Feet Under.” WOW. What a phenomenal show. I know the show has always done well at various award shows, but last night was proof — for me, at least — of how amazing this show is. After watching three solid hours, I wanted more. (Quite the coincidence: watching a show about a funeral home inside a funeral home.) But, alas, the sun had set and it was time to shoot off fireworks and drink more beer. Hooray!
Today, Matthew and I painted my bedroom. It looks gorgeous. We chose a deep pink/purple color, to match the pink flowers in the bed set from Target. Thanks to my sister, Katie, I learned my bedding was on sale. After a stop at Target and Lowe’s earlier today, we headed back to my house to spend the afternoon painting.
It was quite a job, but I couldn’t be more thrilled with the final result. Now, it’s off to find artwork and a few small accessories to complete the room.
if you use mac os x
You need this: http://www.konfabulator.com
And this: http://www.widgetgallery.com
I’ve been using it for a few days now. It’s awesome. Just another reason why the Macintosh platform is so fucking cool. It’s too bad only 5 percent of computer users own a Macintosh.
ouch
For the past week, I’ve had this dull pain behind my eyes. I don’t know if it’s a stress headache that won’t go away, or my eyes telling me to get new glasses. I’ve had the same prescription for about 18 months. I probably should go to the eye doctor first, before jumping to any conclusions.
this is good

exhausting, exhilirating
Last night’s Simon and Garfunkel show was absolutely beautiful. Hands down, it was one of THE BEST concerts I’ve attended. EVER. True, most of the shows I’ve seen have been at Sokol and could never match last night. Yet, I remain in awe of the breadth of their music. One minute, I’m moving in my seat, struggling to sit still. The next, hot tears are stinging my eyes and trickling down my cheeks, blurring my vision and stopping my heart. Garfunkel’s performance of “Kathy’s Song” did me in, as did “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” If I wasn’t hooked on their music before last night, I am now. Thanks, boys, for an unforgettable evening. You have the ability to make 15,000-plus fans feel like they’re sitting mere feet from you.
And so you see I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.
And as I watch the drops of rain
Weave their weary paths and die
I know that I am like the rain
There but for the grace of you go I.
new bedding
This is the bedding I want for my bedroom. It’s from Target. I’m waiting for it to go on sale. I’d paint the walls a dark pink, to match the pink in one of the flowers.
too cute!

pretty in pink
I just finished painting my fingernails dark pink. They look so pretty. Thanks, Avon :-)
a good end to the week
Sure, my week was less than ideal, but an evening of Chinese food at Three Happiness, two glasses of champagne at the Homy Inn and a Ketel One and cranberry at the Interlude Lounge certainly made up for it.
Thanks, Matthew :-)
Tomorrow, my mom and I are having dinner at Angie’s near the Old Market. Then, it’s on to see Simon and Garfunkel play the Qwest Center.
