Discarding Wisdom (Teeth)

In a few short weeks the four wisdom teeth I’ve known my entire adult life will be extracted by an oral surgeon in a matter (I’m told) of 30 minutes. The recovery is what I fear most.

Matt jokes that he plans to produce a similar video (see below) in the hours and days afteward, when the swelling subsides and the drugs wear off.

Let’s pray his camera battery dies the day before.

He’s 28 Today

Wishing a very happy birthday today to Matt, the only man whose fart jokes I find even remotely humorous. To my boyfriend: may your day be filled with creative radio bits, your night with Red Bull and vodka.

Gateway Confessions

Last week I participated in a panel discussion at UNO about the importance of working for (and supporting) your college newspaper. Here’s a brief video recap of the evening’s discussion, produced by Dr. Jeremy Lipschultz, director of UNO’s School of Communication.

I worked for UNO’s student paper, The Gateway, from 1997 to 1999 while earning my degree in journalism. It was exhausting, low paying work … and I loved every minute of it.

Click here to view a video recap of the evening’s discussion.

I relished all two hours of last night’s AC/DC show in Omaha.

And while I don’t have photos, the opening band — The Answer of Belfast — put on a great show. (Think Led Zeppelin mixed with a bit of the Black Crowes.)

A line snakes ’round Omaha’s Oak View Mall as parents drag their children to visit Santa Claus hours before Christmas Eve.

Who’s jolly now?
