Drive Slow, Homey

This weekend I was officially baptized into the Church of Kanye West.

He’s in my Hyundai, on my Macintosh and, most importantly, on my iPod.

Peace be with you, Kayne.

Honestly, WTF?

What the hell is Iron and Wine’s cover of “Such Great Heights” by the Postal Service doing selling M&M’s on TV?

Sam Beam, you broke my heart.

The Thing About Cable TV

Since starting with Cox, one of the perks is free cable TV: analog and digital channels with DVR. I think I have in the neighborhood of 200-plus channels to choose from at any given time.

So what am I watching?

“When Harry Met Sally.” It’s on the Oxygen network right now.

But here’s the funny part: I already own “When Harry Met Sally” on DVD.

Translation: It’s a favorite movie of mine I can watch at any time, yet I’m choosing to watch it now, despite the other choices I have.

Happy Friday.

A Problem With The Internet (One Of Many)

While catching up on the latest music news at Pitchfork, I click on the American Apparel banner ad and find these little beauties on sale.

And a little part of me wants to justify spending 40 bucks on four pairs of underwear (plus shipping) just because they are so damn adorable, when, before this moment, I didn’t even think of buying new underwear.

Oy.

Go Have Some Fun With Vocabulary

An Approach To My Book

Perhaps I should use John Lennon’s method to writing my book:

“I put things down on sheets of paper and stuff them in my pockets. When I have enough, I have a book.”

Just Days Away

Later this week, Apple Computer turns 30.

Grab the candles and cut the cake — it’s time to celebrate.

Wise Words From DD+A

I received a stack of ultra-mod postcards designed by the genius crew at David Day + Associates.

One postcard in particular struck me as extremely relevant at this point in my life.

It reads:

To think is to be. To do is to thrive.

Pure bliss.

Seeing Spots

I had this terrible dream last night that I came down with chicken pox. It was scary because, at 27, I have yet to actually suffer from the dreadful illness. (And I’m told the older you are when you get the chicken pox, the worse your condition. Something about “shingles” sounds absolutely dreadful.)

My dream could signify a forthcoming diagnosis, although I’m not completely convinced. You see, my younger sister, around age 4 or 5, had chicken pox. I was fully exposed to her, as we shared a bedroom on the weekends at my dad’s house, but I never came down with this terrible little spots.

Does this mean I’ll never get them? At this point, I’m not so sure.
